ولدت سوزان الكسندرا ويفر الشهيرة بسيجورني ويفر في 8 اكتوبر 1949 بمدينة نيويورك بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بمستشفى الكسندرا لوروا ، والدها منتج تلفزيوني ، انتقلت سوزان مع عائلتها إلى مدينة سان فرانسيسكو لفترة وجيزة ثم اتجهت إلى كونيكتيكت حيث أصبحت طالبة في مدرثة أثيل ووكر كما شاركت في مسرحيات بالمدرسة وفي عام 1969 التحقت بجامعة ستانفورد وتخصصت في اﻵدب الانجليزي وفي عام 1971 تقدمت بطلب لمدرسة بيل للدراما في نيو هافين ، تنوعت أدوار سوازن بين المسرح والتلفزيون والسينما حيث دخلت فترة حياتها الفنية اكثر انتاجا عام 1986 ونجحت في انتزاع العديد من ترشيحات جوائز الاوسكار وقد تزوجت سوزان من جيم سيمبسون عام 1984 ولديهما طفل Avatar [2009] WALL-E WALL-E [2008] A Monster Calls [2016] Ghostbusters [2016] You Again.
